Situated in what once was open fields and a dairy farm, the 72 acres homing the Amphitheatre was previously developed in to an industrial park before rebuilding in to the amphitheatre. The amphitheatre first opening in 1998 as the Coors Amphitheatre.

In April 2008 the amphitheatre was renamed to the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre.

In January 2013 Sleep Train who signed a five year deal and named the venue the Sleep Train Amphitheatre.

In 2017 Sleep Train rebranded to Mattress Firm and with that came a rebrand of the amphitheatre, changing from Sleep Train Amphitheatre to Mattress Firm Amphitheatre.

In 2018 North Island Credit Union became the naming sponsor changing the name to North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre.
